Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information B-Doz collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information.

1. Who we are

B-Doz is made by Danova, a technology startup in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq founded by Danial Shearwan. Danova is responsible for your information in B-Doz. Contact: support@bdoz.app.

2. Information you give us

• Account: your email address and password. Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), and we can never see it.
• Profile: your name, whether you are a student or a landlord, and your phone number. Students may add their university, year of study and a short bio. Landlords may add a business name.
• Listings: the title, description, city, area or address, the location you pick on the map, the price, the room type and what is included.
• Roommate answers: your gender, budget, preferred universities and areas, and your habits (sleep, tidiness, home life and smoking).
• Messages and reviews: the messages you send, roommate requests, the reviews you write about landlords, and the deals you confirm.
• Safety: the reports you send and the accounts you block.
• Settings: your saved listings and notification choices. Your language and theme are saved only on your phone.
• Consent: when you sign up, we record that you confirmed your age and accepted our terms, and when you did it.
• Support: anything you write to us by email.

3. What we don't collect

B-Doz does not use your phone's GPS location, contacts, camera or photos. There are no payments in the app, so we never ask for card or bank details. We don't use advertising IDs, analytics or tracking tools, and we don't record your screen or how you use the app.

4. How we use your information

• to create and run your account, and to verify your email address;
• to show listings, suggest roommates and let you chat;
• to review listings before they go live, and to handle reports;
• to keep B-Doz safe, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Use;
• to answer your messages to support;
• to follow the law.

The B-Doz app calculates roommate match scores from both students' answers. No automated decision about you has legal or similarly serious effects.

5. Who can see your information

• Other B-Doz users with a verified email can see your public profile: your name, role, university, year of study, bio and business name. Your email address and phone number stay private.
• Approved listings are visible to all B-Doz users, together with the owner's name.
• Roommate answers are shown only to students of the same gender who are also looking, and only while your roommate profile is active. You can pause it at any time.
• Messages can be read in the app only by the people in the chat.
• Reviews are visible to B-Doz users, with the name of the person who wrote them.
• The B-Doz team accesses stored information only when needed: to review listings, handle reports and support requests, keep B-Doz safe, or follow the law.

6. Service providers and where data is stored

We use trusted providers to run B-Doz:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, the Cloud Firestore database and website hosting). The B-Doz database is stored on Google Cloud servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Google processes this data on our behalf.
• Cloudflare manages our domain name and forwards emails sent to support@bdoz.app.
• Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap when you view a map, so their servers receive your IP address, as with any website.

Because these providers store data outside Iraq, your information is transferred to other countries. They protect it with strong security measures.

We may share information with the competent authorities in Iraq or the Kurdistan Region when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone's safety. If Danova is ever merged or sold, your information may move to the new owner under this policy.

7. How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, contact details, listings, saved listings, roommate answers, roommate requests, blocked list, the reviews you wrote and the reviews about you, your consent record and your sign-in account.

Some things stay, because other people or our records rely on them:

• messages you sent stay in the other person's chat, shown as "Deleted account";
• records of confirmed deals;
• reports you made or that were made about you, so we can keep B-Doz safe.

Emails you send to support are kept for as long as we need them to help you.

8. Security

Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules make sure people can only read what they are allowed to, and only a small team can access the B-Doz console. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.

9. Your choices and rights

• See and edit your profile at any time in the app.
• Pause your roommate profile, turn notifications on or off, and block people.
• Delete your account in the app: Profile, then Delete account.
• Email support@bdoz.app to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or with any privacy question. Please write from your account's email address. We reply within 30 days.

10. Age

B-Doz is not for anyone under 17. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must agree to your use of B-Doz. If we learn that someone under 17 has an account, we will delete it.

11. Emails

We only send emails that your account needs, such as verifying your email address or resetting your password. We don't send marketing emails. If we ever do, we will ask you first, and every one will include a way to unsubscribe.

12. The bdoz.app website

Our website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. It saves the language you choose on your device, so the site opens in that language next time. Our fonts are hosted on our own site. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase) keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you in the app. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
